About this policy
This policy explains the kinds of information Build Metacognition may receive through its website, waitlist, communications, and programs, why that information may be used, and how to request correction or deletion.
Who should submit forms
Build Metacognition is designed for students working around 5th-8th grade level.
Parents, guardians, and educators should complete this form for students under 18. If a student is under 13, a parent or guardian must submit the form on their behalf. We do not accept submissions directly from children under 13, and we delete any submission we learn came directly from a child under 13. Please do not submit sensitive student information.
Educators, homeschool or charter representatives, and authorized learning-group contacts may submit forms about their own program interest. No one should submit another person's information without permission.
Information the current waitlist collects
The current waitlist form asks for:
- The submitter's name.
- The submitter's email address.
- An optional role, such as parent, guardian, homeschool or charter family, educator, or learning-group representative.
- An optional student grade or learning level.
The site also includes Google Analytics 4. Analytics may receive standard website-use information such as pages viewed, interactions, browser or device details, referral information, and approximate location information.
Why information is collected
Purposes include responding to questions, managing the waitlist, planning appropriate cohorts, communicating about enrollment, and understanding which audiences are interested in the program.
Information should only be used for purposes explained at the time it is collected or for closely related program administration.
Where waitlist submissions go
The current waitlist form sends submissions to Formspree through a Formspree web endpoint. Formspree processes the submission, makes it available through the configured Formspree account, and may deliver an email notification to the recipient configured for that form.
Email providers may also process and store messages when Build Metacognition receives or replies to a submission.
We may use service providers such as analytics, email, scheduling, form, payment, classroom, or business operations tools to help operate the site and services. These providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices.
Student work and class records
The current waitlist form does not ask for student work. Future programs may create or use projects, class notes, chat messages, attendance records, feedback, or other class records.
If a program collects student work or class records, that information may be handled only as needed for program delivery, communication, feedback, safety, or reasonable business records. We use reasonable efforts to limit access to information to what is needed for the relevant purpose.
AI tools and student inputs
Some future learning activities may use third-party AI tools. If a student enters a prompt, document, image, or other material into an AI tool, that input may be sent to and processed by the tool provider under that provider's terms and privacy practices.
Required tools, account expectations, and relevant parent or guardian information may be provided with program or enrollment materials. Families should review each provider's age requirements, account rules, and privacy practices before use.
What students should not enter into AI tools
Students should not enter the following into AI tools unless a parent, guardian, or instructor has specifically approved the activity:
- Full legal names, home addresses, personal email addresses, phone numbers, or precise location.
- Passwords, login codes, student identification numbers, or account credentials.
- Private school records, medical or counseling information, financial information, or family documents.
- Private photos, videos, voice recordings, or identifying information about another person.
- Confidential assignments, copyrighted materials they do not have permission to use, or anything they would not want shared with a third-party provider.
No selling personal data
Build Metacognition does not sell personal data.
Contact and deletion requests
Parents, guardians, educators, and other authorized contacts may email hello@buildmetacognition.com with a privacy question or a request to correct or delete information.
A request should identify the email address used for the submission and enough detail to locate the record. Identity or authority may need to be confirmed before information is changed or deleted. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, accounting, or operational reasons, and information held by third-party providers may be subject to their own deletion processes or limited technical retention.
